Matthew Shaw - LLB, Notary Public Director
I am Rotorua born and bred and am unashamedly proud to call Rotorua my home. I obtained my degree in law from Otago University in 2003 and was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand as a Barrister and Solicitor later that same year.Upon returning to Rotorua and working for ten years within the local Rotorua legal community, I decided it was time to form my own legal practice - one that properly and better reflected my own personal values and thinking. Matthew Shaw Legal opened its doors for business in April 2014 and has been growing ever since. I encourage clients to be open and honest with me in all aspects of our legal relationship. Cathy Punter - Registered Legal Executive
I have over 30 years experience working in law firms both in New Zealand and in Australia. I completed my studies as a Legal Executive in New Zealand while I was a working full time and raising my three small children. Graduating at the top of my year showed the passion and dedication I have for everything I do. I joined Matthew Shaw Legal in January 2023 after working in Taupo for the past 8 years. Outside of work I am a volunteer in the Rotorua community, which is something I love, along with spending time with my husband and now adult children, reading, going to the gym and travelling. I look forward to assisting our clients going forward with their legal requirements.

Nicola Atkinson - Registered Legal Executive
I have worked in the legal profession since 1996 whilst in the UK. Having emigrated to Rotorua in 2011 to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and the beautiful scenery that Rotorua and New Zealand has to offer.I worked locally in Rotorua within the legal profession since 2013 and gained my legal executive diploma whilst working and being a mother to three active boys. In January 2024 I joined the team here at Matthew Shaw Legal. I have a great passion for helping others. I always go the extra mile to help my clients achieve what they want and need. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, sports, and going to theatre. I look forward to helping our clients to achieve their needs and requirements.
Alison Shaw - Office Manager
I am married to Matthew and have lived in Rotorua for over 35 years. We have two children who keep us busy outside of work. As the firm's office manager, I will be the smiling face you are greeted with when you come into our office. It is really important to me that our clients are made to feel welcome and enjoy their whole experience with Matthew Shaw Legal.
